How an appointment goes
Four steps. The standard is simple: prepared, punctual, and finished before you leave.
Step 01
Describe the paper
What it is, how many signers, and whether anyone needs a visit at home or in a care facility.
Step 02
Keep the time
The appointment starts when it was set. If she will be late, she calls before that time, not after.
Step 03
Come ready
Photo ID, the unsigned document, and witnesses if the document demands them.
Step 04
Leave finished
Certificate completed, stamp on the document, and your papers back in your hands.
What to bring
- Current government-issued photo identification for every signer.
- Every signer, physically present.
- The document filled in, not signed early, with no blanks left to fill in later.
- Any witnesses the document itself requires.
- The fee quoted for that appointment. Prices are not published on this sample.
- A few minutes to spare. If you will be late, call before the time that was set.
What this practice does not do
- Give legal advice, choose a form, or draft the document.
- Issue an apostille. That comes from the Tennessee Secretary of State.
- Notarize a blank page, or identify a person who is not in the room.
Prepared. Punctual. Discreet.
Clients should be able to tell, in one appointment, that this is a professional office and not a favor between errands. Wendy meets you when she said she would. If her side of the day slips, she calls before you are left waiting. She does not discuss the document after you leave.
That is the whole introduction. The practice is the notary work.
